About Helen

Hi there! I’m Helen, and I’m glad you’ve found my online portfolio.

I’m a writer, editor and storyteller who is passionate about telling stories that matter.

Currently, I hold a marketing and communications fellowship with Q Ideas, a non-profit organization committed to helping Christians thoughtfully engage culture.

I also write stories on a freelance basis for a number of publications. My favorite stories lie at the intersection of faith, culture and current events and shine a light on the lives, experiences and perspectives of real people.

When I’m not working, you can find me sipping on a cup of Earl Grey, exploring my city and listening to good music.

To view some of my recent work, please check out my portfolio. I’m always looking for new editors, publications and organizations to work with, so if you’d like to connect and/or inquire about hiring me as a freelancer, please fill out the form below. I’d love to hear from you!

Education + past experience:

In May 2018, I graduated from Western Kentucky University’s top-ranked School of Journalism and Broadcasting with a double-major in journalism and broadcasting and a minor in political science. As a college student, I helped launch my university’s first-ever life and culture magazine, produced my own podcast, held a corporate communications internship with LifeWay Christian Resources, edited various publications and worked as a reporter for several local radio stations. These experiences — and others — are described in my resume.
